Job Title: Desktop Support Technician

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: IT Infrastructure Manager

Location: Birmingham, AL

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Desktop Support/ Help Desk Technician who is looking for an opportunity to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. This person will be responsible for providing support services to ICC internal end-users. The selected candidate will interact with all levels in every department within the organization providing technical support to users.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day Desktop support.
  • Troubleshooting Level 1 end user issue such as Password resets, Email issues, Printer setup/ connectivity, VPN and support.
  • Work on installing new hardware and software.
  • Set-up computer systems, install standard configuration & software.
  • Maintain IT equipment (Desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, monitors, and smart phones).
  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates.
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the infrastructure manager.
  • Research issues using available information resources.

 

Essential Skills, Education, Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years' of experience providing desktop support.
  • Experience with break/fix of hardware (desktops, laptops, printers; and other peripherals) without violating hardware warranty.
  • Experience with fixing software and O/S issues.
  • Experience in installing and troubleshooting hardware, software, and O/S.
  • Able to perform basic administration of Windows O/S and Basic Mac O/S.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Hangout messenger, and other desktop tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with Anti-spyware and Anti-virus software.
  • Basic usage knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and RDP.
  • Basic knowledge of enterprise LAN concepts.
  • Able to lift / move computer equipment weighing up to 50Lbs (if needed).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to assist non-technical users in a professional and friendly manner.
