The International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, has an immediate opening for a full-time, onsite Candidate Services Coordinator in the Certification and Testing Department at its location in Birmingham, Alabama. The Certification and Testing Division of ICC is responsible for development and administration of currently four testing-related services: The ICC National Certification Program; a state and "legacy" certification program; a national contractor/trade testing program; and contract testing support services provide in support of outside associations. This division has a full-time staff led by the Director of Certification and Testing.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assess, investigate, and resolve all such candidate-related issues
  • Serve as liaison between candidate and ICC Test Developers/Program Managers (content and operations)
  • Serve as liaison between candidate and Pearson VUE (content and operations)
  • Serve as ICC facilitator for accommodated testing (i.e., ADA)
  • Receive, prepare, and delegate candidate challenges and appeals
  • Conduct hand scores
  • Communicate to candidate in form of telephone, email, or letter, as appropriate to presenting issue and as per written policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular communication, to include any scheduled meetings, with Pearson VUE staff in regards to candidate issues
  • Maintain candidate appeals metrics (spreadsheet) for each candidate presentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested when workload allows.

Essential Skills and Education / Experience:

    • The successful applicant will ideally possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in a related field, plus a minimum of 2 years related work experience in a fast-paced environment with critical hard-stop deadlines. Requires high organization and process tracking skills, and composure under pressure. Critical skills include ability to empathize with candidates but enforce rules consistently, as well as maintaining complete confidentiality with sensitive information. Requires ability to present situations in an unbiased manner with recommended actions to supervisors. Must be proficient in MS Office and in-house computer software programs.
