We are excited to add a new member to our Technical Services/Code Development Team. Recent retirement has created an immediate need for a qualified Staff/Senior Staff Engineer.

Work from our regional headquarters located in Country Club Hills, a near south suburb minutes from the world-class City of Chicago, Illinois.

Reporting to the Manager of Standards Development, you will support internal and external stakeholders, including members, customers and the public in the effective facilitation of the code development process. Excellent written/verbal communication skills are essential as you communicate critical technical information through drafting of commentaries, and facilitating committee activities and meetings.

Play a key role in the assist and support of:

  • Code development committees
  • Code change language that is concise, accurate, and consistent with other code provisions on both an intra- and inter-code basis
  • Publications staff to ensure the accuracy of published code documents
  • Development of Commentaries and other code-related publications
  • Code interpretations for members

Lead and serve as an ICC Subject Matter Expert through:

  • Presentations to professional, governmental and community groups on subjects relating to the promulgation, interpretation, enforcement, and benefits of building codes
  • Appearance and participation in meetings and conferences
  • Leadership on internal and external committees
  • Educational content development, and conducting ICC seminars as an Instructor
  • Technical resource for other ICC departments and functions

Candidates will possess 3 to 10 years of directly related professional experience within a building jurisdiction, related professional association, or company with an emphasis on code enforcement. The title of Staff or Senior Staff Engineer will be given commensurate with experience.  You must be able to demonstrate sound working knowledge of code development, application, and/or enforcement.

A Bachelor's in Civil or Structural engineering is essential; current PE licensure is considered a candidacy advantage.
